Ray Mendoza grew up around roofing. His father is a roofer, and Ray has been doing it professionally for nine going on ten years, with more than $10 million in exterior projects behind him. He started RM Lighting Solutions because he was already on the roofs.

He understands rooflines, materials, pitches and proper installation, so the lights are clipped where they belong, the cords run where they should, and your shingles come through December the same way they went in. Questions people ask before booking
Do you supply the lights or do I buy them?
RM Lighting Solutions supplies everything. The commercial-grade C9 LED strands, clips, cords and timer all come with the install, and on the seasonal lease we own and store them between seasons. You never buy a box of lights or find room for one in the garage.
How far from Topeka do you travel for an install?
About 80 miles in any direction. That covers Topeka, Lawrence, Emporia and the whole Kansas City metro including Johnson County and the Missouri side out to Lee’s Summit and Blue Springs. Kansas City customers can call the (816) 938-9249 line.
When should I book to have lights up before Thanksgiving?
Book in October. Seasonal installs start October 1 and the calendar fills from the front, so an October booking gets an install date well ahead of Thanksgiving. Later bookings take the next open slot, which in a busy year can push into December.
What does it cost to have holiday lights installed?
Installs start at $500 with a $100 deposit to hold your date. The proposal shows Good, Better and Best packages on a mockup of your own house so you can see what each level covers before you pick one. We take bank transfer and check.
Do I have to be home for the quote?
No. We pull the measurements for your roofline from satellite imagery and build a proposal with a mockup of your exact house, so for most homes nobody needs to come out before you say yes. You tell us the bulb color you are leaning toward and you get the proposal back, usually within a couple of hours.
What happens if a bulb goes out during the season?
Call the number on your proposal and we come fix it within 24 hours. In-season maintenance is part of every residential install, so bulb replacements and troubleshooting are already covered. You do not pay a service fee and you do not get on a ladder.
Who takes the lights down after the holidays?
We do. On the seasonal lease RM Lighting takes the lights down on a scheduled date and stores them over the off-season, labeled by property, then brings them back the next fall. You never buy, store or climb for the lights.
Do you supply the wreaths and garland or do I buy my own?
RM Lighting Solutions supplies pre-lit commercial-grade wreaths and garland as part of the install, so they match the roofline lights in color and brightness. If you already own pieces you like, tell us on the form and we will hang them as part of the job and connect them to the same timer.
Do you install permanent lighting too?
Yes. Permanent lighting is a run of color-changing LED fixtures mounted under the roof edge in a track that matches your trim, so it is nearly invisible in daylight. You control the colors and patterns from an app, and we install it all year long, not just in the fall.
Why does it matter that the installer is a roofer?
Because the lights go on the roof. Ray Mendoza has roofed professionally for over nine years and knows where to step, how to clip to a drip edge without lifting shingles and how to run cords so nothing rubs or holds water. The roof comes through the season the way it went in.
